Affectionately referred to as the Top, this section of the Youghiogheny River runs naturally. After getting comfy on the Upper Yough this year, I got my chance to run the Top Yough this September and its a really wonderful stretch in every way. Evergreens, giant bedrock drops followed by a dozen boulder gardens, Muddy Creek Falls pouring in halfway down and all in only 3 miles. Thanks to Michael Fisher for the photo. Remember kids, if you're going to be R1ing, you need an Aire Puma.
